JULY 3rd join us in the evening from 6 to 8pm for the opening of two America 250 exhibits! The Moments that Made US- There are several wonderful exhibits like this around the United States- I recommend them all- ours will focus on the Highway Expansion on the West coast and the history that led to these developments. The family aquarium industry in the 1940's to 1980's up and down the West Coast. It has not all been a bed of roses but we think this will be a great learning opportunity!

The Moments that Made US Exhibit will start July 3 and 4th 2026 and continue til the end of 2026:

Also starting July 3rd we will have our Out of Many One: shark exhibit on display. Our community voted: out of all the exhibits in the aquarium which exhibit they would like to see highlighted, and sharks won by one vote! We have a wonderful shark model we will put front and center in the aquarium and then we will also post some of our favorite shark pictures and stories and related exhibits in the aquarium over the years. And who knows maybe we might have a live dogfish shark or skate at somepoint in the aquarium this summer?

We are excited to announce that we have a c.100 year old Willits Canoe Company Printing Press on loan from Foss Waterway Seaport Museum, and we are taking it to schools, museums and libraries across the state in 2024, 2025 and 2026 leading up to America 250 in 2026.

Thanks to all who participated in our  Direct Annimation and Printmaking Workshops:

So far we have visited over 17 libraries, museums and schools in Washington State and Oregon, and over 1200 people have made prints on the press! If your Museum, School or library would like us to bring the printing press to you let us know. Email us at [email protected]

AND YET ANOTHER REASON....

THE WESTPORT AQUARIUM, SINCE 1955, HAS RECEIVED ITS MULTITUDE OF FISH FOR DISPLAY FROM THE LOCAL CHARTER AND COMMERCIAL FISHERMAN. VISITING THE LOCAL SEA LIFE ON EXHIBIT, YOU ARE ALSO SEEING THE LOCAL FISHING INDUSTRY ON DISPLAY AS WELL. WESTPORT, WASHINGTON ENJOYS ONE OF THE LARGEST FISHING COMMUNITIES ON THE WEST COAST. THE AQUARIUM WOULDN'T BE HERE WITHOUT IT.
