Westport Aquarium often teaches art and science  classes for kids preschool through high school age and adults. Parents and grandparents are welcome also. We have made sail boats, By the Wind Sailor Jellyfish and Portuguese Man o' War Jelly models and raced them on a homemade water racing track. We take pictures and videos of wildlife underwater using an ROV and so much more. Email Kathryn Myrsell at [email protected] if you are interested in future art classes.

We have a 1908 hand crank movie projector at the aquarium! Make your own direct animation short film as part of our free craft table activites now. Just ask at the front desk for a short two to three foot section of film leader and we will lend you some sharpie markers and/ or nail polish to use in the aquarium to make your own direct animation film! Then you can watch it right away on our hundred+ year old hand crank movie projector at the Westport Aquarium! You can take home your direct animation film section or if you would like, you can add it to our community film where we are splicing visitors film sections end to end to make one long film. It takes many frames to make just one minute of film!!! So far we have about 5 minutes worth! :) This free activity is available when ever the aquarium is open. We can also bring this activity to your local school, libary or museum if you wish. Contact us at [email protected] to make arrangements.
